Thank goodness... [11 Jan 2019|04:24am]

That we didn't have to pay out of pocket for the plumbing repairs the other day! Lee's battery died on Thursday and we had to replace it. That was a quick $164.00 we weren't expecting. It's still less then what I would have had to pay for unclogging the sewer line without insurance so I still consider that we've come out ahead. They also found a nail in our right rear tire that had to be repaired.

I'm hoping to get my Surface Go posted for sale on eBay sometime later today if possible. There's a chance I might be posting Lee's iPad for sale as well. He uses it for work but it looks like they might be providing one for him to use so, if they do, we'll sell his to help pay toward our medical bills. His iPad is the Space Gray iPad Pro 10.5 with 256GB storage space and Wifi and LTE connectivity. We got it through Verizon's payment plan but it's unlocked and can be used with any compatible carrier. It's still like new with great battery life. We need anything I can get for both of them to help pay down our bills.

We may be getting snow this weekend. No matter what it's going to be wet and cold. It'll be a good weekend to snuggle in and make some homemade potato soup and corn muffins. I also found a neat recipe for breakfast muffins that I want to try, too. It has bacon, cheese some onions and a hard boiled egg baked right in the center of the muffin. It looks delicious in the pictures!

Hope everyone has a safe, warm and fun filled weekend. :)

*hugs*

The Moral of the story is... [09 Jan 2019|02:33pm]

Always, always get a second opinion! Part of the reason I was so panicked the other day when I posted is that the day before I'd spent the whole afternoon waiting on a verdict on our clog while first one, then two plumbers from a well known plumbing firm here in Louisville looked at our line through the clean-out valve we have installed outside.

They were both really nice but basically did nothing to even attempt to clear the line. At the end they came in and told me that part of our line had collapsed and that it'd cost $3500 to repair it. On top of that, our Ash tree next to it would have to come down, too, to the tune of anywhere between $3000 to $6000 to remove it. I told them that there was no way we could afford that with all our medical debt. He said don't worry, we can set up a payment plan and, hey, I know a guy who can take down the tree, too.

I was sick to my stomach when they left from the stress and we still had clogged lines that would back up in our basement if we tried to do anything. Then I remembered that we have some coverage that I pay extra for through our water bill each month. I checked and sewer is, thankfully, one of them.

The news starts getting better )

Like I said, the moral of the story is always get a second opinion. Even if it's a firm you think you can trust. I shudder to think what would have happened if I hadn't. I'm hoping that this is a good omen of the new year to come. :)

*hugs*
